What is an Affirmation? And why is it so important?

Positive statements! That is what an Affirmation is. It’s a saying, a simple statement of positivity that helps you to engage into thinking good thoughts rather than falling victim to negative ones. 

Seeing something written out, saying it daily like a ritual; while you dress, after a shower, before bed. This helps your brain form more positive patterns, and will help you overall. A person wants to be positive in order to accomplish goals, some goals are to be healthier, some are to feel better and some to feel connected with the powers at be. 

A couple of these affirmations for your Spirit will help you feel empowered, connected and true to yourself.

  1. I am resourceful. 

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

  1. I am strong and courageous. 

Joshua 1:9 – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. 

  1. I am content, Christ alone grounds me, satisfies me and blesses me. 

Psalm 107:9 – For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

  1. I am brave and live by grace.

2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

  1. My body is the temple for the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:1 – Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you.

6. I am a prayer warrior.

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

  1. I am empowered and empower others too.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
